Respect Your Mother and Others

Happy Earth Day! 🌎🤍 Today is a day to celebrate our Earth and really do our best to try and be as green as possible. Earth Day should be every day. We should all consistently and constantly be reducing, reusing, recycling. There’s so many easy ways to go green and save the planet. I figured I’d share a few ways that I live by -

  1. Reusable straws. I’m obsessed with my Ello Products reusable straws. They’re metal on the bottom and they’ve got a squishy top that doesn’t hurt your teeth! These straws are so easy to clean and reuse. You can even just throw them in the dishwasher with the rest of your dishes! Try keeping these straws in your purse or your car and utilizing them instead of plastic straws. Here’s the exact ones I use (You can also find this brand at Target!) - https://www.elloproducts.com/collections/reusable-straws/products/stainless-silicone-reusable-straws-set-of-4

  2. Reusable water bottles. This is both a wonderful way to save the planet and meet your hydration goals for the day! I love always having my water bottle with me. I save money and reduce my plastic waste by keeping it with me at all times. I use a cup from Zak Designs, but any reusable water bottle or cup will do! The water also stays cold all day long. It’s the best! Here’s my water bottle - https://www.target.com/p/zak-designs-20oz-double-wall-stainless-steel-latah-tumbler-purist-blue/-/A-78630570

  3. Use reusable bags when shopping. Skip the paper or plastic! Always bring your own bags to the grocery store or mall. They’ll last forever! I always use the reusable bags that are gifted from shopping. Stores such as Aerie or LuluLemon give you incredible reusable bags when making a purchase. I keep all my bags in the car and just bring them with me whenever I’m going to grocery shop. In the entirety of a reusable bag’s lifetime, it can totally prevent the use of over 600 plastic bags.

  4. Walk whenever you can. Instead of taking your car, go take a walk and get some fresh air! Walking is just another way to reduce pollution. Plus, you’ll be getting great exercise! For every mile that you walk instead of drive, you’ll be eliminating nearly one pound of pollution from the air.

  5. Reusable silverware. I am a big fan of packing my lunch and snacks. It’s easy, convenient, and cheaper. One of my favorite hacks to packing my lunch is reusable travel silverware. I’ve had mine for years! Reusable silverware is another way to reduce the amount of plastic you’re using on a daily basis. 6. Pick up trash while you’re out and about. If you see trash - don’t just walk past it! Do your part and safely pick it up and properly dispose of it.

  7. Reusable masks. Masks are a part of our every day life now. Try your best to use a reusable mask that can be washed and worn again. If you prefer the paper masks, cut the straps and properly dispose of it. Lots of masks have ended up in the ocean tangled around animal’s legs. Let’s do our part to save the planet and protect the animals!

  8. Turn off lights when you’re not using them. Try your best to use natural light! Open up those windows! You’d be surprised at how much electricity is wasted on a daily basis.

  9. Reusable ziplock baggies. I love snacking which means I use a lot of ziplock bags. Instead of wasting plastic, I use reusable ziplock bags. I love the Zip Top and Stasher products. They’re so easy to use, clean, and reuse. Definitely check them out! https://ziptop.com https://www.stasherbag.com

  10. Carpool. Riding with friends is the best! Try to ride together whenever possible. This reduces pollution and cuts CO2 emissions in half.

  11. Turn off the faucet. Never let the water run! Did you know you can save up to eight gallons a day by simply turning off the sink while brushing your teeth? It’s that easy!

These may seem like small little changes, but they make a big impact. We only have one planet. Let’s do our best to protect it. Let me know your favorite ways of saving the planet below! Happy Earth Day!
