A Life That's Good

Hi friends!

It’s been a little while since I have written a blog. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life. However, I’m back! I love writing blogs and I think it’s important to share our thoughts and feelings with others. I’m going to try to make these blogs a more consistent and reoccurring thing. Stick with me!

I was listening to my songs on shuffle the other day and a song titled “A Life That’s Good” by Lennon and Maisy Stella came on. This is the original recording from the show “Nashville”. I hadn’t heard this song in forever! I love being inspired by the smallest things. There’s little reminders and pieces of encouragement in our lives each and every day. As soon as I heard this song, I knew that I wanted to write something about it. The lyrics go a little something like this:

Sitting here tonight, by the fire light

It reminds me I already have more than I should.

I don't need fame, no one to know my name.

At the end of the day, Lord I pray

I have a life that's good.

Two arms around me

Heaven to ground me

And a family that always calls me home.

Four wheels to get there.

Enough love to share and a

Sweet, sweet, sweet song.

At the end of the day, Lord I pray

I have a life that's good.

Sometimes I'm hard on me,

When dreams don't come easy

I wanna look back and say I did all that I could.

It’s so easy to overlook what we already have. We all have good things in our life. It might not be good all the time, but there’s definitely good. Even if it’s just a little bit of good. Personally, I know that a lot of times I get so focused on achieving a goal that I will overlook how far I’ve already come. I have to remind myself to stop and be thankful for all that I’ve already achieved. Good things take time. In the meantime, I’ve already got a life that’s good.

I’m most definitely not saying that we should all be happy 24/7. That’s just not realistic. But maybe next time you spill your coffee or miss that traffic light on your way to work, try to not think of it as a “bad day” but instead maybe just a “bad hour”. Or even a “bad thirty minutes”. Let’s all try to not let an unfortunate few minutes ruin our entire day. Take a deep breath and remind yourself that you have a life that’s good. You were able to buy yourself a coffee. That’s a luxury to some people! When we begin to focus on the good, the good is going to keep getting better.

A life that’s good doesn’t mean that you have to be the richest, prettiest, smartest, or whatever else. A life that’s good means that you’re rich in love, happiness, kindness, honesty, encouragement, and so much more. You do not have to be the prettiest in the room. You do not have to have the most friends. You don’t even have to be anything other than yourself. Let’s all strive to make the most of what we have. Let’s be true to who we are and shine our light on the world. Oftentimes, our society convinces us that things that really don’t matter are important. In thirty years, you’re not going to remember the outfit you wore to the party. You’re going to remember how much fun you had with your friends and how the night was filled with laughter. You have a life that’s good. You have so many people that are supporting you and cheering you on. Take a deep breath and remember what truly matters! 🦋✨
